One of my all-time favorite shrubs–Ribes Sanguineum. It’s a California native, deciduous shrub that blooms and leafs out in early spring. There are pink, red and white varieties. This one is probably the variety called “Claremont”. The leaves are scented with an aroma that I absolutely love. Calscape lists them as good habitat plants and says “Deer Resistant, Bird Gardens, Hummingbird Gardens, Butterfly Gardens, Bee Gardens”
